Home of the Brave - Land Of The Free
As the moon shines bright, ore the land of the free
I think of the lives lost for you and for me
Of the battles they fought, with bombs bursting in air
Sometimes I wonder "why did they care?"
It must have been love and compassion for man
As they laid down their lives to save this great land
With odds stacked against them, they gallantly fought
With blood that they shed, this land they had bought **********************************************************************
Then I'm reminded of a time before this
When a child sent from God, faced a much harder test
He'd face trials and temptations, he'd face armies of men
Who would want nothing more than his life to condemn
But unlike the brave souls who shed blood for this land
He called not for soldiers behind him to stand
He stood proud alone, knowing why he was there
through agony and pain, "why did he care?"
It must have been love and compassion for man
As soldiers drove nails through his feet and his hands
But with faith in his father, to fight...He would not
With the blood that he shed, our sins he had bought
**********************************************************************
Now we stand free, as the price has been paid
As so many before us, their lives bravely gave
They fought for this land, they gave of their heart
And proudly they stood, as they each did their part
But nothing compares to the One long ago
Who was nailed to the cross, for the world his blood flowed
He poured out his love and compassion for man
And now all his children so proudly can stand
As our freedoms been granted, and the price has been paid
And someday we'll all meet in the home of the brave
